This is for the 3rd through 5th grade age group and meets Tuesday afternoons from 4:15-5:15 during the school year and is limited to 10 children.
The Celestial Orff ensemble plays pitched and unpitched percussion instruments (xylophones, glockenspiels, metallophones, drums, guiro, tambourine, triangle, etc. This is basically taught by rote, but written rhythm patterns are introduced.
The Celestial Handbell ensemble plays color coded notes on the staff and learns basic rhythms and many handbell techniques.
Both groups play in worship and the Celestial handbell group also plays in the annual “Ring, Sing, & Mingle” Christmas handbell concert.
