Vision Task Force
The following is a letter from the Stewardship, Property & Finance Ministry Team to update the congregation about the progress being made based on the efforts of the Vision Task Force:
VISION TASK FORCE UPDATE
The Long Range Vision Planning Task Force completed its work in 2012 in seeking God’s vision for Northwood Presbyterian Church over the next 20 years. Since that time the Stewardship, Property and Finance Committee (SFP) has been working on how to best implement that plan with other ministry teams and committees of the Session. (All Ministry Teams and Committees of NPC were charged in 2012 with working to implement the goals established by the Vision Task Force). The SPF has been trying to prioritize those plans and find the resources necessary to make the plan go forward from a budget prospective in matters relating to vision of updating our church campus.
We are pleased to announce that the more steps are in the process of being implemented. Along with the updating of the new sanctuary light and sound system the next stage was to expand the classroom capacity for the Church Day School. Two new classrooms will be available for enrollment in the Fall of 2014. This project was completed with minimal expense. Due to scheduling difficulties these new facilities can not be used until that time. Through the leadership of Katie Pacana of our church staff, our Director of Communications, the church website has also been updated this summer as well. The Vision of the Task Force was to continue to upgrade the technology of our ministry together as other leading churches are doing and we continue to do this as appropriate for us as a congregation.
Another important step in implementing the Vision for NPC for the future will be a complete upgrade of the men’s and women’s restrooms which are shared with the Day School in our main building. This renovation of the main restrooms is targeted for completion in the Summer of 2014.
As the SPF committee continues to plan for the future, it is mindful of the financial costs involved in expanding. Of equal importance, the committee must be assured that what ever is done must lead smoothly to the next step. If you have questions or concerns please direct them to either Mike O’Leary, Chair of the SFP Team or to me.
