The Children’s Choir ministry is a graded program divided into three groups. Choirs rehearse on Wednesday afternoons during the school year as part of the "King's Kids" program from 4:00-6:00pm. All children's choirs sing in worship once a month during the King's Kids season.
Cherub Choir (ages 3-4/Pre-K). We follow the Musikgarten curriculum model, with the children sitting on the floor using sticks, jingles, drums, scarves, hoops and movement to help them learn their songs and establish a steady beat while having lots of fun!
Seraph Choir (K-2nd grade). The children are now singing while sitting or standing and exploring their voices more and often playing rhythm games and using rhythm instruments. They sing anthems geared towards this age group.
Angel Choir (3rd-5th grade). These children are doing more advanced anthems, often in part- singing. They also have an opportunity to attend an annual Children’s Choral Festival where children from around the state work with a choral clinician and sing the same music en masse. They also perform a Christmas pageant/musical at the 4:30 Family Christmas Eve service.
Summer Music Camp (rising into 3rd-6th grade)
Every summer, the week before school starts back, we have a summer music camp where the children learn a Christian musical and perform it at the end of the week. Each day also includes music games and snack. It is astounding that the children can learn a musical when rehearsing only from 9-12 M-F. It is limited to 20 children and has a nominal fee.
